On February 28, 2025, Minsk hosted the International Conference "Emotional Intelligence in the Educational Environment: A Path to Human-Centricity", organized by Sberbank and the "New School" Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Investment in the Future Charitable Foundation.
Pyotr Polozhevets, Executive Director of the Investment in the Future Charitable Foundation
The Conference brought together speakers from Belarus, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, as well as UNESCO experts. The key topic was the development of personality potential, including the influence of a teacher's personality potential on the development of said potential in students.
The participants discussed the practical application of approaches to emotional intelligence development in educational institutions, shared their best practices, and proposed effective methods for improving communication within teams and between teachers and children and increasing employee motivation and engagement.
During the Conference, Pyotr Polozhevets, Executive Director of the Investment in the Future Charitable Foundation, delivered a presentation called "What Contributes to the Personality Development of Students and Teachers". Peter Polozhevets shared results of the research projects "How Can Teachers Advance to Help Students Feel Happy and Successful?" and "What Contributes to Personality Development and Well-Being of Students?". The research was conducted by the Foundation in cooperation with the Moscow City Pedagogical University (MCU): more than 4,000 students and 2,500 teachers from 30 regions of Russia participated in the research.
Pyotr Polozhevets emphasized that the personality potential of a teacher and the style of communication with children in class are interlinked with the social and emotional skills of students. Such skills are developed to a much greater extent in children whose teachers are resistant to stressors, open to new ideas, sure of the children's ability to develop their potential, and able to use productive communication styles in the classroom.
The Conference in Minsk has become a place for exchanging ideas and experiences. The event ended with a discussion of further prospects for the education system development. The participants emphasized the need to develop partnerships within the framework of promoting a human-centered approach, including at the international level.
