Foundation Experts Introduce the Global Competition on Design for Futures to Belarusian Universities

On April 9–10, representatives from the Investment in the Future Charitable Foundation visited the Republic of Belarus to present the Global Competition on Design for Futures to the Belarusian academic community. During the visit, the Maksim Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University also hosted discussions on future cooperation and a showcase of the Foundation's Developing Environment Programme.

In 2026, the Foundation became the regional organizer for the competition in partnership with Moscow City University. Originally organized by Beijing Normal University and the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education, the competition targets students and focuses on the role of artificial intelligence in education, science, and society. The regional stage for Eastern Europe and Central Asia spans seven nations: Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The Foundation’s delegation has already completed successful presentations in Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

At the Maksim Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University, Foundation experts Dmitry Sizarev and Anastasia Nogai introduced the competition and invited students to apply. The event featured virtual addresses from Hongyan Kuai, Director of the Design and Learning Lab at Beijing Normal University’s Smart Learning Institute, and Tigran Yepoyan, UNESCO Advisor on Health Education for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Several other institutions joined the presentation online, including:

  • Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University
  • Brest State A. S. Pushkin University
  • Francisk Skorina Gomel State University
  • Belarusian State University
  • Bishkek Music and Pedagogical Institute (Kyrgyzstan)
  • Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University (Kazakhstan)
  • Tashkent State Pedagogical University (Uzbekistan)
  • Additionally, Foundation expert Venera Valeeva led a masterclass titled "The Art of Intelligence: How to Use AI to Solve Diverse Tasks."

Beyond the competition, the delegation met with representatives from the Maksim Tank University and the "New School" Local Educational Foundation to discuss collaborative opportunities within the Developing Environment Programme. These visits are vital for launching joint educational initiatives, exchanging pedagogical techniques, and engaging Belarusian youth in international projects designed to build the digital skills and competencies of tomorrow.
