Higher education students from different countries are invited to participate in the Global Competition on Design for Futures

The Investment in the Future Charitable Foundation is the organizer of the Regional Phase of the Global Competition on Design for Futures (Eastern Europe — Central Asia) for Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The Regional Phase will be co-organized with Moscow City University.

On February 11, the Foundation's experts, together with partners and organizers, held an open online presentation of the Regional Phase of the Competition. Organizers introduced the project, the rules and formats of participation, the roles of partners, the admission procedure, and the requirements for applications. The event was attended by university staff and specialists in charge of international and scientific activities of students.

Participation is free and team-based: students are invited to form teams of 3-5 people to develop and defend a project in one of three areas:

• AI for Science;
• AI for Education;
• AI for Society.

The working language is English — at least one team member must be fluent.

20 teams are expected to participate in the Regional Phase, from which two winning teams will be determined for further participation in the World Final in Beijing.

We invite students of higher education from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan to express their ideas at this global event!

The Initial Phase will be held online:

• Until April 30: registration of applications, team formation, and submission of project proposals;
• May 1 — May 31: development of projects and submission of initial projects (5-minute video presentation and a project description — report);

The stage will include online trainings and lectures by experts.

The Regional Final will be held in Moscow:

• June — July: finalization of projects, submission of updated materials, and participation in the Regional Final;
• Regional Final in Moscow: determination of the winning teams to participate in the World Final.

The World Final will be held in person in Beijing:

• October: submission of the finalized materials and participation in the World Final;
• World Final in Beijing: teams compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals, as well as awards for outstanding achievements.

The Global Student Forum will be held as part of the Competition’s World Final.

About the Competition

The Global Competition on Design for Futures has been held since 2018 by Beijing Normal University in partnership with the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education, as well as leading international organizations, academic institutions, and technology companies.
